What happens when Christians sin ?
They have to perform pennants.
They walk in darkness.
They fall out of fellowship with God.
They must rededicate their lives to Christ.
Their sins are forgiven.
God disciplines them.
5 & 6
They lose their salvation, and have to start over again.
I don't know, I haven't sinned since being saved.
None of the above.

Hi godlycook!

I believe we fall out of fellowship with God when we sin, until we repent, and then we are forgiven. Praise the Lord!

Hey Steve, great to see that you're still around; and I hope you're able to stay. As far as your poll:

I believe the following are correct:

2;
3;
4; (At times a complete rededication is necessary; other times a believer's confession of sin suffices.)
5 & 6; (These two transpire upon sincere repentance and practicing obedience).

God bless!

I think it depends upon what kind of sin you're talking about. If it's a one time thing - like a lie - then just asking forgiveness is enough. If you're living in a sin - like addiction, then also asking for forgiveness is still required, but then a rededication. What is this pennants? Is this a Catholic thing?

3, 5, and 6 can happen, for we must confess all of our sins with a truly repentant heart and contrite spirit, for this is the way to keep a relationship with our Heavenly Father healthy.

Without Absolute Truth, there are only lies disguised as truth, if you know not the Absolute Truth and it is NOT within you, you will embrace a relative truth that fits your eternity, that is presently before you.

Continue to be faithful, deliverance is near, obedience must be seen, be an unconditional blessing as He continues to bless you.

This time is short, serve Him well, serving all.

Without exception.

Sin causes separation from God. You have to see your sin, repent and confess your sins to come back into fellowship with God. The problem starts with a very low appreciation for the Law of God in the Christian World today.

The death of Christ did not turn sin into a small thing.

In fact the death of Christ establishes the horrid nature of sin and rebellion against God.

Each time you sin you are deciding to rebel against God and yield your members to Satan. And if you do not realize the maganitude of what you are doing then it will appear to be of less and less consequence until finally you will not even see any need of confession.

Which is the state of most of the "Christian" World today.

This Bible verse would be considered to be as useless needless words to most Christians today [Unfortunately]:

Heb:3:13: But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

and the modern Christianity today wouldnt even deem this necessary either, because after all, it might make you feel "guilty" about yourself and this is a "feel good about ourselves" world today:

Ps. 139:
23: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

...and that is one of the major reasons why there are so many shallow Christians.
It begins with a low conception of the Law of God and the Judgment and thus, little abhorrence of sin. Then little appreciation of what Jesus did in dying for our sins. Its not much different than New Age Spiritualism.

...except these modern shallow Christians say "Praise God" and "Thank you, Jesus" alot. Oh and of course you will see "Crosses" all over the place.
But not real appreciation for what the price Jesus paid to win our love and loyalty back to God.

Hollow Formalism.

Jesus is my Saviour, I shall not be moved.

We lose the effectiveness of the Holy Spirit working mightily in our lives.God will not answer our prayers and bless us.Also He will
discipline us.We must repent of our sins to be in perfect fellowship with the Holy Spirit and be empowered by Him.We do not lose our salvation.

Actually Steve,

The question you are asking goes to the very crux of whats wrong with most of the Christian World today. They think its no big deal when they sin. But when Adam had to get a knife and kill that innocent sheep because of his sin, he realized the enormity of sin.

Sin causes separation from God. You have to see your sin, repent and confess your sins to come back into fellowship with God. The problem starts with a very low appreciation for the Law of God in the Christian World today.

In fact the death of Christ establishes the horrid nature of sin and rebellion against God.

Rom:3:31: Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Each time you sin you are deciding to rebel against God and yield your members to Satan. And if you do not realize the maganitude of what you are doing then it will appear to be of less and less consequence until finally you will not even see any need of confession.

Christ died for our sins, we are forgiven by God's grace. Our sins are forgiven because we are His, other things do matter, we fall in our fellowship with God, we need to repent, sometimes we experience God's discipline as part of His restoring us, we sometimes feel that we are walking in darkness, BUT nonetheless, because of God's work we are forgiven.

Hello,

I think we fall out of fellowship with God, just until we humbly repent, but I would think it would depend on what kind of sin. God is the one who gives us repentance.

Is anyone familiar with the Jewish holiday " Yom Kippur "? It is the holiest day of the year ( for Jews ), it is a day of Atonement. Below is a short explanation taken from a Jewish web site.

" Yom Kippur ("Day of Atonement") is the tenth day of the month of Tishrei. It is the holiest day of the Jewish year. On this day, G-d seals our fate for the coming year, therefore, the entire day is spent fasting and praying to G-d for forgiveness and a good year.

This year (5769/2007-200 Yom Kippur begins on Wednesday evening, October 8, and continues until Thursday night, October 9, 2008. "

As you can see, the Jews celebrate this holy day once a year; in hopes of making Atonement for their sins. From some of the answers to this pole, I get the feeling that most people don't understand what Christ has accomplished by His life, death and resurrection. Christians don't need to try and make Atonement for their sins, unlike the Jews; we have been reconciled with God, through the sacrifice of the Son. We ( true Christians ) cannot walk in darkness, fall away; or be separated from God ( in any way ) because of our sins.

" God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. "2 Cor. 5:21

Christ was born of a virgin ( so He didn't inherit Adam's sin nature ), He lived a sinless life ( by obeying the law perfectly ), and He rose from the dead ( for our justification ). Christ and only Christ, has reconciled ( by bringing together ) us ( the believer ) with God. When a believer sins ( and we all sin ) the blood of Christ purifies us ( the true believer ) from EVERY SIN ( 1 John 1 ) I didn't add that choice hoping that someone would mention it.

Claudia.......you aren't even in the park. You have been deceived into thinking you must keep the law, in hopes of reconciling for your own sins. You continue to reject the one and only sacrifice; that God has given. Just as the Jews who practice " Yom Kippur ", you must keep trying, to make atonement for your law braking. If you keep that up, you'll be in for a very rude awakening.

The salvation in Christ is not temporary, it is eternal.

In John 10:28-30, Jesus says: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." The forgiveness of God through Christ is sufficient to cover all of our sins -- past, present, and future. There is nothing a person can do that God cannot forgive. This doctrine is supported by Romans 8:38-39, Ephesians 4:30, and Jude 24, among others.

    ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IS SIN.
Sin is certainly sin, but there are also "levels" of sin:

1 John 5:17 - All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. (KJV)
All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. (NIV)
All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death. (NASB )
All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal. (RSV)

James 4:17 - Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (KJV)
Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. (NIV)
Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin. (NASB )
Whoever knows what is right to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. (RSV)

Hey, did you visit my blog? Have you heard anything about that case? Couldn't you go and visit that guy and hear what he has to say?? Is it far away from where you live? Can't you tell anything about the policy over there?

It certainly would be unrighteous if he really is innocent!!!

When we sin we are out of fellowship with the Father. We have to repent and go on with the Lord. Jesus is our advocate and He stands between us and the Father and pleads our case. If you are truly a child of God you do not willfully PRACTICE sin. Everyone makes a mistake at one time or another.
I can back it up with scripture but most of us already know the Word of God and what it says.
Sin is sin. The only sin that is handled differently is Suicide and Blasphemy and we know how that is handled if we again, know His Word.
Thanks

Hi wantedbygod....... In order for a believer to get out of fellowship with God, the believer would have to return to the darkness. Christ has delivered us from the power of darkness, never to return.

" But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin. "[\size]1 John 1

Sin can never cause us to get out of fellowship with God the Father ( or the Son ), because the blood of Jesus cleanses us from every sin. We don't confess sin ( or repent ) in order to remain in fellowship. The fellowship we have with the Father, is the result of what the Son has accomplished for us. Don't be a stranger....post more often.
