Six-year-old, Brandon, decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor. He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor, which by now, had a few tracks left by his kitten. Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for his Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad. He didn't know what to do next; whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove and he didn't know how the stove worked! Suddenly, he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and as he reached to push her away, he knocked the egg carton to the floor. Frantically, he tried to clean up this monumental mess, but he slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and sticky. And just then, he saw his Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon 's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him. Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!

I should have grabbed the tissue box too cuz it reminded me of a mother's day when my daughter was 5. She had a friend sleep over and they decided to make me breakfast. They knew they shouldn't use the stove when I wasn't there, so proceeded to make "shish ka bobs" which included chunks of cabbage, chunks of carrots, pieces of pineapple, and the worst coffee I ever had in my life. They didn't know how to make coffee, so put the water in the maker and when it had dripped through, they put a bunch of coffee in the water and stirred. Now you think I didn't have a hard time to be thankful, smile through the tears and tell them how much I appreciated their efforts, but I pulled it off.
Then I went to the kitchen............................
You know it turned out to be the most memorable breakfast I ever had, and we still laugh about it - these girls are now 32.
God's blessings and thank you for yet another memory trip.
Assured Salvation and God's forgiveness are all that matters.

Reminds me of when my daughter was 9 and tried to make me breakfast. I was still asleep and didn't know she was doing this. I awoke to this loud horrifying scream. She had turned on the gas oven and walked to the other side of the kitchen. When she came back to light the oven it blew up in her face. Her eyelashes and eyebrows were burned and she had burns on her face. It scared me to death. I took her to the doctor and he said they were just minor burns and would not leave any scars. He told her she had done a wonderful thing and to not let this little incident keep her from fixing me breakfast again. Sadly, she never fixed me breakfast again. But it is a memory I will never forget.
in your life means Jesus is in your heart.
