I looked around the restaurant. There were five tables, counting mine, within sight. At every table (my table was the exception), there was at least one person on a cell phone. I thought as I surveyed the scene, "Is this what we've come to? Permanently tethered to an invisible electronic line? Are we so caught up that we can't even eat without being involved withsome electronic device?" What a shame. What have we succumbed to? Are we becoming like the Star Trek Borg creatures? Creatures who cannot exist without being electronically tied into the collective? I was so disturbed by the thought that I just refused to witness it further. Someone has to take a stand! So I closed up my notebook computer and walked out. May the Lord bless you and keep you |

Amen...I think cell phone drivers should get pulled over and ticketed!  Great post. Nobody seems to talk face-to-face anymore do they?  Or know how to 'switch off' and relax for a bit!  Over here in England now Alan, there are hefty fines for people who use cellphones whilst driving. There have been some nasty accidents whilst people were chatting on phones, and the police come down really heavy on them now. GBY Both, Pat

Geez, Bill, you had me going there for a minute!!  I saw a show once where everybody in the restaurant was on a cell phone, but they were each talking to a different table in the restaurant!!  He whispers through the storm......"I am with you....."
