Holy Ground.

Matthew 13

I wonder what kind of seed I am? I don't like to think of myself as a wayside hearer, the hard hearted? The wayside is a path that has been beaten down by years of people trampling over it, the ground has become hardened.

Am I stony ground? Just a thin piece of soil with limestone rock underneath, when the seed is sown on that the seed would germinate ok but there would be no depth to it. When its roots tried to anchor in search of nourishment it would meet the rock and be unable to stand the heat of the sun, there would be no moisture. It endures for awhile but it still fails to grow.

What about the thorny ground? This is deceptive ground, it looks ok to the eye, in the ground lying dormant are the weeds that were about to spring to life again. weeds grow with the strength that good seed cannot match, the weeds choked the good seed, some greek translations say the seed was strangled or suffocated. Do you feel choked? Do you know there is something not right? This is the most distressing because the good seed goes on a little longer than the other seeds, and its death is a slow one.

Who is the good ground? People whose experience is deep and clean where the ground is good. They keep short accounts with God. The seed can grow on the soft nourished ground. Seeds planted on the good ground brings forth fruit and it brings 30, 60, or a 100 fold. In John 15 we read about fruit, much fruit, and more fruit. What is it that we bear? If you sow seed you cannot look for fruit quickly it takes years for an acorn to grow into an oak tree. There is no haste in it's growth it takes time to grow, and that can be said too of our christian walk. We need to be fed and watered.

I pray that the Lord will grant me to planted on good ground where fruits will be found for his honor and glory.

Psalm 51:9-11 (King James Version)

9Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

11Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

May the Lord grant each and everyone of us the joy of bearing fruit and growing in his love. May he help us weed our gardens and keep short accounts.
Amen.

Hi chasing!

Good word here!

I think God wants us to constantly be planting, but we don't always know the condition of the ground. My prayer is for Him to water and fertilize as He sees fit. You never know what seeds you sow that may someday grow into beautiful fruit.
God bless you!

This is an interesting parable, the first thing that comes to mind is, the obvious fact that a sower wouldn't sow on the wayside, or stony ground or thorny ground. but you knew that, a sower does much more he prepares the soil, fertalises it and sows.
But in this story he just sows, this one also has an explanation further down so we know what each represents (yay). So why is the sower sowing on stony ground or on the wayside ...? my thoughts on this is that in our hearts and in our minds we all believe that we are the good ground, and of course Christ will treat us all equally. we are all ready to receive the word, key words 'he who has ears let him hear' thats most of us I think. but like most of us we hear and receive it turns out that most of our minds have a history to it. and some are waysides used to be trampled on by evil, and some just want their own way and become stony rocks to obtain it. I guess the only way to really know which one we are is by our fruit. the stony thorny wayside wont bear any fruit. But again the key is right in front of our eyes, we have to let go of that history and receive the word as children, without prejudice, and thinking that I know better or this isn't how it is in the real world.
You have a nice blog here, thanks for sharing it with us, I don't have much time for blogging at the momment, but I'll be sure to drop by and read when I have time.
