Adam and Eve produced abundant offspring...sons and daughters. NO where in the O.T.does it mention WHERE Seth or any of adam and Eve's children found THEIR mates. Did the Lord take ribs from ALL of them and create mates for them? Or perhaps there were other primates who had descended from the monkey who became their mates and bore -y offspring. We don't KNOW what happened. WHAT...do YOU think?

I'm thinking that eve's children inter-married, this of course was necesary in the beginning, it is not necesary now days, the old testament speaks of what's not acceptable morally.

Life is an adventure.

I agree that Adam and Eve's children intermarried, but there was nothing immoral about this. For some reason this blog had been posted twice. See my reply on the "other" one for an explanation.

I didn't say that there was something immoral about it back then, it is today, let me be more specific, if today, in may 2008, brothers and sisters, meanning, having the same mother and father, were to marry it would be immoral for them to do so.

Life is an adventure.

I agree with that. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my earlier response.

This is my post on the "other" Moinkey blog which I have decided to copy and paste here too:

Genesis 5 v 4: "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters" {and incidentally there is nothing in Genesis to say that some of them weren't born BEFORE Seth}

Quite obviously brothers must have married sisters for the human race to continue. Before everybody cries "That's incest and it's wrong!" consider this:

1. One of the reasons why almost all societies disapprove of incest is because of the risk of deformed offspring. This is due to 'DNA copying errors' (called 'genetic mutations' by the biologists) which are doubled up if parents are closely related but cancelled out otherwise by the healthy parent that doesn't carry the problem.

2. These 'DNA copying errors' wouldn't have started until after the Fall of Adam and Eve. Initially there would be very few genetic mistakes so there would have been no biological problem for a number of generations. As the human race reproduced into numerous generatios these errors would accumulate with time and eventually it would become a genuine problem.

3. At the time of Creation there was no prohibition on brothers marrying sisters. As long as it was 'one man one woman for life' it was acceptable to God. Abraham's wife Sarah was also his half-sister (see Genesis 20 v 12). The prohibition on marrying close relatives only came in much later with the Law of Moses.

So you see, no need for any evolutionary nonsense. Start with the Word of God and think logically and it all makes sense!

I think I like the idea that God took ribs from Adam's sons and made their wives better. Marrying your own sister would have been just too cruel for a man to have been forced to do.

Too bad that Simon Peter never asked Jesus about this...or if he did, it was never written down.
