Black Friday

That's what they are calling today.....black Friday.

The stock market crashed here today. Though no doubt it will affect me in one way or another, I'm kind of glad that I'm just an average Aussie battler. I don't have stocks and shares or investments.......I just have Jesus and He always gets me through.

I've had times of financial freedom and times of poverty....seen both ends of the spectrum. These days I just kind of coast along, thankful for everything that God gives me, never taking anything for granted!

I used to be the ultimate material girl...when I think of it now, I feel kind of sick. "Things" were so important, I was frivolous and stupid.

It took a jump into reality to turn things around! In fact it was during the "leanest time" that I gave my life to Christ. Funny how when you are all out of chips, you suddenly realise what really matters, huh! I remember, it was just before Christmas and I was so broke I couldn't afford to buy my son any gifts. I was in the depths of despair, and one night I called out to God and asked "is it that you don't like me, or are you trying to teach me something?" The next morning in the shower, He answered me (LOL I have a lot of revelations in the shower!) He reminded me of all the things I did have, and He reminded me that I had Him.....I folded like a pack of cards then....and begged Him to take over my life. And He did! I had the most special Christmas that year, and yes, my son did get some very nice gifts!

So whatever is happening to the global economy, I guess I am just one of millions who will go with the flow and trust in God to see me through.

Needless to say, I wont be visiting the US just yet...the Aussie dollar has hit an all time low of 65c US. Earlier this year it was nearly 90c. Now's a good time for you Americans to take a holiday downunder...you'll get great value for your dollar!

But there is another reason why this is Black Friday in my opinion. A bill is about to be passed either tonight or tomorrow......legalizing abortion up to 24 weeks with the approval of two doctors.

People are wailing over losing money......but yelling for freedom to kill their unborn babies. Yes it certainly is Black Friday in Australia.

Come Lord Jesus.........

Hello Pene,
When reading through your post all I kept thinking was- At least Pene is safe! Those who are not in Christ have to go through these perilous times without a safety net! Like you said though, sometimes hard times will take people to their knees and it is there that lives are forever changed. Perhaps many will come to know Jesus through all that is coming. We don't know how far it will go, but I have been receiving a "word" specifically for about four years now.
Times will get very sketchy! People will become more desperate. They will look to one who seems to have an answer. Not the right one or the right answer though. Yikes! There are still several things that must transpire before the return of our Lord. We are getting there though. Hallelu! It will even appear for a time that the enemy of God has won! Remember that is not true. It is already an assured victory that our God has and his Saints with him.

We are trav'ling in the footsteps
Of those who've gone before
And we'll all be reunited,
On a new and sunlit shore,

Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

And when the sun begins to shine
And when the sun begins to shine
Lord, how I want to be in that number
When the sun begins to shine

Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

Oh, when the trumpet sounds its call
Oh, when the trumpet sounds its call
Lord, how I want to be in that number
When the trumpet sounds its call

Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

Yes, my friend I do believe we are heading for a time of reckoning. The separation of the sheep from the goats, the heralding of the antichrist where many will be deceived. This is a time for us to hold fast to the Truth. Oh and yes....victory!! Praise God!!
I love that hymn, "when the saints go marching in"...it sure is a victory cry, and it is ours! Love you, Rhonda...lifting you up in my, beautiful friend!

Pen, what a wonderful post! Yes, you are right, it is black Friday. The markets crashed in the United States too. Like you, my trust is in the Lord and I am grateful for everything I have, even if it isn't much. I am thankful - in fact, VERY THANKFUL, to have such a loving God. I understand very lean times and know what it is like not to have money to buy my children Christmas gifts too. But we still had wonderful Christmas' even if it wasn't full of a lot of "stuff". And like you, I am appalled that people would want to vote to be able to kill unborn babies. Black Friday indeed. Love you sweet sister!

Hey gorgeous! PJ, that Christmas which was 15 years ago was the biggest turning point in my life! Ever since then I have shied away from the commercialism of Christmas and simply celebrated the birth of a Saviour. God is so good, has been so good to me, blessed me with much! These are uncertain times......but we have our feet on the Rock! Praise God! Love you!

is it so soon Pen?...just heard that two rounds have gone by through parliament and they are 'voting' on the third...it will be a sad history to note when Victoria pass the abortion law
What a topsy turvy world...all values are down...including the aussie dollar....other countries too like Malaysia...many of my friends' relatives, will get great value for their dollar should they change their currency and come down under for a visit...
Thanks for sharing your testimony of a special Christmas...

Man can make many plans...BUT it is the Lord who will direct his paths....

They said on the news last night that the bill was expected to be passed either last night or today. You know what totally saddened me, Pat? It was hearing that guy who addresses the gathering, use our Lord's name as an expletive. What hope do we have of "the right thing" when our leaders are not godly? I am saddened at this turn of events....but not totally shocked coz we are living in the end times. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

IN Canada too!

And, on the abortion front, amidst many protests, Henry Morgentaler (Canada's 'Abortion King') has been given the Order of Canada for his: “commitment to increased health care options for women, his determined efforts to influence Canadian public policy and his leadership in humanist and civil liberties organizations,”

It's sickening, Hellen. Last night on the news, they showed a former head of our State and she said she's been waiting a long time for this. The woman has children of her own.....she's a mother for goodness sake, yet she condones the killing of unborn babies. Go figure! This is a time to cling to our Lord, huh!

Pen, yes it is "black Friday" for many nations and peoples without Jesus. I too am praying that the losses people will experience will cause them to turn to Him. May we be brighter lights than ever and be an encouragement we those we know so they will put their trust in the King of the universe instead of the "dollar,' that is not so almighty anylonger.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness!

Yes Pen, a black day, they think they are so progressive, but really they are going backward, I've been praying about this.... "If my people will humble themselves and pray, then I will hear from heaven, turn and heal their land" No wonder there is no water in the dams, when will they get it! Keep praying, I'm standing with you and you know what He says about two or more, amen!!!

Well, I just heard that the bill has been passed in parliament....so abortion has now been decriminalised. It makes me want to cry I pray for the unborn babies, the little ones that God Himself handpicked and chose before birth....the little ones whose lives will be cut off before they even begun......cut off by the hands of men, not God.

This government will not prosper and there are those who voted against it...where I live there is no shortage of water and our local member, Vogels was against the new law... Cut off by man and the decisions of the women and girls entrusted with them ...

I knew when the Labour government came in, things would go downhill from a Christian point of view. Not a lot of Christians have figured this out coz they don't read what the parties stand for. The same is true for the democrats and the republicans, in the US.

I am reminded of the different times in the Bible when the enemy was behind the mass killing of children and infants; let us pray that God will give us spiritual eyes to see what is the true reason behind all this; and then do battle on the right front. Seems there might be something more here.

This is definitely the work of the enemy, Deena. I also heard a while back, that if a doctor refuses to comply he can be sued. It will put a lot of Christian doctors in a shaky spot.

Black Friday indeed, my heart aches for the babies also. Seems like we are all in a serious attitude of prayer.

Bless you Pen

Pen, that is the ultimate test for the Christian...the fear of man vs the fear of God; we must choose right no matter the cost. I do pregnancy tests all the time for unwed women, some who state right up front they want an abortion; I do all I can to try to change their mind, I don't help them arrange an abortion (I advise that is against my conscience)...I also prescribe prenatal vitamins in the event they do in fact change their mind. Often, they are just so shocked and do not see alternatives. That is where we, as Christians, need to step in, offering alternatives. I know a Christian ob gyn in Raleigh NC. Before he was saved he performed abortions; after he got saved, he repented. He moved to a new building and used the old building to start a ministry that was listed in the phone book as offering pregnancy tests, help for unwed mothers. It offered pregnancy counseling and alternatives...adoption, keeping the baby. AND he started the Christian Life Home...there was a Christina couple that lived at the home and ran the home...it housed unwed pregnant women and new moms; gave them a place to stay, Christian counseling, helped them find a church home, helped them find a job or provided work/financial assistance, etc. That is the kind of thing that can actually change the number of babies aborted even in a lawless society. I always thought it was wonderful that God redeemed that building where so many babies were aborted into a ministry to save them. Sounds like a good ministry opportunity to consider.

What an awesome ministry your friend has, Deena. You're right, it's about coming alongside these young women and counselling them, giving them hope. At the other end of the spectrum we have teenagers giving birth indiscriminately because our government gives out a "baby bonus" of about $4000 each time you have a child. Teenagers are getting pregnant coz they want a plasma tv etc. I saw this on a current affairs program a while back...these kids admitting to getting pregnant coz they wanted to buy this or that! They are too young to even realise the consequences of their actions. I guess as Christians, our job is to pray and help change the mindset of these kids...daunting, but it begins with one, right?

Hey Pen...what about lobbying, or getting a petition to change the law so that the baby bonus must be used for only certain things...like go into a trust for college education (Florida has a prepaid college tuition plan that parents can contribute to), childcare, medical care, etc? Perhaps certain payees could be registered with the program so that the check would go directly to them...seems $4000 per child is a huge waste of taxpayer money if spent on frivolity...and like you said, encourages pregnancy for all the wrong reasons.

ms_warriorthingy replies on 10/11/2008 3:48 pm:
I think most people would prefer a petition to scrap the baby bonus totally......except of course those who are about to start a family!! There is a lot of frivolous spending by our government except for the important stuff...like public health and education!
