An antichrist spirit has been pervading the blogs of late. It isn't just people arguing about biblical doctrine....we're all kind of used to that!
There is a spirit of error that I am hearing from many sources.....doctrine that is at opposites to what the Bible teaches.
What does satan like to do best? He likes to create dissension and division among the saints of God....he wants to bring us down! So he uses puppets (not unlike those you see on Sesame Street).
A long time ago, someone I respect greatly, warned me about the danger of listening to the doctrine of man. His advice is well founded.....man can get it wrong! No, I'm not talking about the Pastor in your church etc. God has provided many with the gift of teaching (though even then we need to be sure it lines up with the Bible of course!)
Look around you at the blogs.....is what your reading consistent with God's Word?
Are you being drawn into arguements which cause you to get very very angry?
Do you notice the spirit of condemnation, accusation, dissension, contempt, vulgarism, etc etc?
Be careful when you visit a post.....read it and read it again...check it against the Bible!
Don't get drawn into arguements....it makes satan jump for joy.
Pray for the weak and vulnerable who get suckered in.
Stay close to God.....meditate on His Word constantly.....pray with fervour.....put on the armour....pray for each other.
This place is one of the frontlines in evangelism and spiritual warfare....treat it as such.
Just because someone sounds knowledgable....does not make them good teachers of the Word! Remember this is an internet site.....anyone could disguise themselves as a great teacher/prophet!
And most of all remember........
TO GOD BE THE GLORY! The victory march belongs to Him alone!
ps I will be reviewing all comments before allowing them to be posted! See, Susan....I do heed your advice!!

The most dangerous, are the counterfeits, they are so close to the Truth, if you can not tell the difference, you can start reading clever lies and never realize it.
Those blatantly wrong are a blessing.
Not all discern as well.
Forgive them, all of them, for they are proving they know not what they say, less what they do.
Have compassion on them, praying for them, for many of them may not be saved.
Paul argued and debated many.
Do not be bated by ignorance or one out to destroy.
There are many like that in this world.
Be sly as a serpent and gentle as a dove.

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN, girl!
A verse that came to my mind last night was about shaking the dust off of your feet...and walking away. As I was searching the context of that online I found a great devotional. Hope it's okay it I share it here...
Shake the Dust from Your Feet - Luke 9:3-5
He said to the apostles, "When you travel, don't take a walking stick. Also, don't carry a bag, food, or money. Take for your trip only the clothes you are wearing. When you go into a house, stay there until it is time to leave. If the people in the town will not welcome you, go outside the town and shake their dust off of your feet. This will be a warning to them."
Key Thought
Some folks are determined to reject the message of Jesus. There are many reasons why this is true, but they all boil down to one truth -- Satan has poisoned their hearts to the good news of God's Kingdom in Jesus Christ. Rather than keep beating our heads against a wall that the evil one has erected in the heart of someone, God calls us to move on in our efforts to reach others. If we are in the same family or office or neighborhood and have regular proximity to them and can't move on, then we are called to live our faith before them and pray that our actions will demonstrate the faith we profess and win them before the day of Christ.
Today's Prayer
Father, please give me wisdom to know the best way to share the message of Jesus with all those that I know who are not yet Christians. Father, I recognize that only you can break down the barriers Satan erects in the hearts of those who reject your message. Help me know when it is best to move on and leave that work to you. In the lives of those near and dear to me, please use my daily faithfulness as one of the influences used to win their hearts for Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

ms_warriorthingy replies on 9/4/2008 1:57 pm: Thanks for sharing this, Hellen......it is so relevant! I have had to this many times coz the bottom line is, either I am not the tool God will use to produce fruit in the particular person, or their hearts are so hardened that they would not recognize the message God is trying to convey. It's hard sometimes to "let it go" but this is what God clearly says in Luke 9, and all we can do is pray and pray some more! God bless you darling girl! |

Hi Pen, I just want to agree with what you are saying here. In the past year, I have seen a lot of bickering and personal attacks, which are disturbing of course. However, lately, it seems here have been a whole slew of voices preaching distorted and perverted versions of the Gospel. That's actually more disturbing to me than the nasty little personal slams people send back and forth to each other because it is a more subtle form of hatred. A distorted gospel is a hateful thing because it is Satan's attempt to kill God's children by turning them away from God. Call me names and you hurt my feelings. BUT, turn me away from God's Truth, and you're putting me in eternal peril. It seems like there are a lot of voices on the blogs lately that are trying to do just that!
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14: 27

ms_warriorthingy replies on 9/4/2008 2:05 pm: Amen and Amen, Sophie! Satan has a VERY subtle way of sounding so convincing, and it's enough to make one who is young in the faith, doubt what they have been taught, the real truth that the Bible teaches. What baffles me is, they take one part of the Bible and call it Truth, yet call other parts of the Bible lies......where's the logic in this? Thanks for your input my friend! |

Amen Pen and nice to know SOMEBODY listens to me! I've been very concerned about this matter as well. I have no issue with people getting on their pet soapboxes, or defending their churches doctrine. But the spirit of division and discord - false teaching sugar-coated and presented to look like truth . . .this is very very disturbing and I am worried at those who don't seem to 'get it'. One can't mix light and darkness. We can't give credence to anyone (not just one person here in Blogland - ANY person) who puts forth something that sounds 'good', yet behaves in ways that are patently unChristlike.

God speaks to us through His Word if we have the ears to hear. And yes, I agree with you Red, the behaviour belies the message! |

I agree with you up to a point Pen. I would be the first to hold up my hands and admit that I have not always 'got out' of an argument situation as quickly as I should have done. I am learning to discern and choose between "fight" and "flight"
But there is another side to it. There are those who are determined to impose their particular understanding on the rest of us. If we leave their posts unchallenged then we may be guilty of allowing the immature believer to be railroaded into error without doing anything to prevent it.
My aim at all times is to encourage all bloggers to check what they read against scripture. In order to do this it is sometimes necessary to oppose the "bullies" strongly {but still courteously}.
One thing Satan likes even better than dissension is when he can get people to believe false teaching with very little opposition!
Blessings Peter

ms_warriorthingy replies on 9/4/2008 2:21 pm: I agree with you up to a point too, Peter!! Yes, I too have made the mistake in the past, getting caught up in useless wrangling. Yes I do believe it is important to state your point, but as Hellen commented, using Luke 9....sometimes we have to shake the dust off our feet. I use my own blog to post warnings, in the hope that the same people who read those blogs will read mine also, and pray it gives them food for thought. And when I post a blog that is biblically based, I want people to make sure it lines up with God's Word, rather than taking my word as gospel truth....coz sometimes I can get it wrong. Thanks for your input my friend! |

Yes, there are many heretics running around here lately and I am stunned and saddened that anyone's taking them seriously. I am speaking pointedly because the situation is getting out of hand now. Once someone shows they are a heretic, ALL their words are vain and to be rejected. As you said, we have to STUDY the Bible. Go to Bible studies..find good churches. So you can know the Word of God.
Everything should always be tested against the scriptures. That's the final authority, not me or anyone else on the blogs. God bless.
ms_warriorthingy replies on 9/4/2008 2:24 pm: Amen NJ! Only through a constant and close relationship with God, and meditating on His Word can we get the real Truth! Pen - the not getting into an argument is so right. I will not because that usually means using the Word (sword) against a fellow believer which is sooo wrong - because our fight is not against flesh and blood, we need to use the Word as Jesus did against the true enemy of the saints.
Many I read, but don't comment and never go back to. I'm not interested. I'm in a good church with good teaching I'm here to meet people and the people I like to read are those that are real about their lives and their walk with Jesus.
Blessings

Hi Pen, This is another thing that concerns me.How do i know if what`s been said is right?.I do ofcourse try n check it out in my Bible.I`d also like to say that there are a few on here that i know, know what they`re talkin about.Maybe that`s wrong but it`s always checked out for me. Peace be with you, Wendy

And if ever I am not too sure, I check the Bible! As for those times when I read a post and it sounds godly, and then I get this little "niggle"....I become very discerning! LOL and I pray too! |

Yep Pen amen, I do however fight to keep young ones in the faith from following after one who is leading them away from the fold. It's happening here right now. I try to help pull them from the fire before it's too late. I let one die before I realised I should have fought for her more. She jumped off of a 12 story building. I will never forget.... God forgave me and I won't do it again to the best of my ability. If these young ones jump in the pit with the lost pied pipers who they are following, all I can do is keep praying. It's the warrior thingy in me sweet Pen. But thanks for the reminder to pick my battles well. Of course the holy Spirit tells me where to fight and help a litle one, or a fallen brother. I love you Pen!! Blessings, Robin

Yes Pen...it is hard sometimes to read blatant error and not want to correct it. There are some folks that I know it will be pointless to comment to as I know they will respond no matter what I say or how kindly I say it with venom and false accusations...of course the true source of that is then obvious. There are a few though who genuinely seem to be seeking truth; it is to those that I feel we need to respond with truth and kindness. God will help us discern the seeking heart from the one whose main aim is to stir controversy. I am concerned that there are those who are young in the Lord that might be led into false doctrine and error. My prayer is that everyone learn to go to the Bible to check what is being said and that we become "fruit examiners"...the Bible says we will know the true Christians by the fruit they bear.

Don't forget the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, brethren!
Pray for His blessing on BC daily! This is our community/current church at present.
The Spirit will reveal precisely what the will of God is: what a blog stands for, if one exalts His glory rather than one's own self, if what is said is edifying (upbuilding), if it clarifies scriptures according to the Word, if it shows unconditional love for one's neighbor, if it's not an argument for the arguing sake, if there's the right spirit behind the text...
Trust FULLY in Him, an He will reveal things that would be quite well disguised otherwise.
Write the essence of the Bible in "your heart", and read and write always with your heart! If you're not sure, DON'T!
Learn to disconnect your "brain" from time to time!

Pen its not just in the blogs but the chat rooms are often full of vitreol too.The tongue and the pen (keyboard) are equally powerful in hurting and delivering false doctrine, but we have the power of the HolySpirit and The written word to more than counteract this.We should remember that this is a commercial site and there are many on the site not to edify each other but to attempt to pull us down by misleading us. God bless you for bringing up the subject.

Hi Pene, Great post! I have not been around lately and I have missed what is going on. I totally agree with you! We generally are on the same page aren't we?
I will check the place out and see what is going on.
I think too much credence is given to "challenging certain blogs to prevent new believers from going astray" as Noah suggests.
I have been on the blogs for a while now, and i have read comments about people being encouraged, people being informed of facts they had missed, people being amused, and lots of people being offended. What I have never heard, unless I just plain missed it all, is people being led to the truth through the blogs. Or people changing their belief system because of diligent would be bearers of the "real truth". Let's face it, mostly it is through real life experiences and situations that such things happen. I have led many to the Lord, but I know none have been through B.C.
Not saying there is not a lot of encouragement and wisdom here, there is and this post is one such example. Wise words indeed. Bless you sweet sis.

One thing I do know though, and this is purely through my own walk, I learned a lot and it was through people like you....giving me food for thought, challenging me, encouraging, so many things that made me yearn to go deeper and seek the very heart of God. The blogs can be good building blocks but it can also be torn down with the ugliness we also see! |

A person who can spot conterfeit money doesn't spend time with the counterfeit, but studying the real thing, and can therefore more easily spot a counterfeit. That's the way it is with us and the Word. We don't need to be up to speed on all the latest heresies. We just need to know the real thing.
