Joh 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. Joh 13:5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
These verses really impacted me this morning. This act of washing the feet of his disciples speaks volumes of His faithfulness and servant heart.
Being faithful isn't a gift that we may get, it is a requirement that God expects of us. Not just faithfulness to Him, but faithfulness in our relationships too.
There are times when I get hurt, I want to stamp my feet...when my faithfulness to someone isn't returned. And I ask, why should I be faithful? My faithfulness is my undoing after all. When someone rejects me and walks away from me as if I don't matter to them....what's the point in being faithful if it just means I will be hurt? Why not just keep everyone at arms length to save me from getting hurt?
Because He asks me to be faithful, regardless of the outcome.
Remember when Jesus was praying in the garden...He asked His disciples to sit and pray with Him....but they fell asleep. A few hours previously, He had washed their feet in an act of faithfulness and humility...yet here they were, in His time of desperate need.....they were asleep, with clean feet...that He had washed.
He could have, rightly should have....told them to just get lost! What a lousy way to repay His friendship huh?
But what did Jesus do? He allowed Himself to be taken away in chains....beaten, scorned, ridiculed...hung on a cross...suffering untold agony....tasting the pit of hell...for His friends....for you....for me. Beautiful, faithful Saviour!
2Co 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
We reap what we sow. What we sow into the life of another, we will reap also. No, it may not be from the person whose life we have sown into....we will reap the benefits from God Himself. His reward is far greater than the earthly reward from another person.
If we sow in love, He will give us love......if we sow in loyalty, we will receive loyalty...if we sow faithfulness, He will be faithful to us. It really is a win win situation!
I pray that His grace flows through me, equipping me to show faithfulness to those He brings into my life. I pray I have the grace to expect nothing in return. I pray that the seeds I sow in the lives of people around me will be a pleasing fragrance to Him, seeds that will enrich and bear good fruit.
Thank you Jesus.....for Your faithfulness to me!

. Continue to be faithful, deliverance is near, obedience must be seen, be an unconditional blessing as He continues to bless you.
This time is short, serve Him well, serving all.

Very true words, Pen...and words we continually need to stay reminded of. May we all choose His way in our dealings with others, our responses and choices.

True Pen! We don't get to change the rules just because someone else doesn't play by them. Good post!
