Went out to dinner last night and this is what I had........

Vitallo Saltimbocca

Veal medallions grilled with crispy pancetta and a chardonnay and sage salsa

Had to wait 2 hours for it!!! but oooooh it was worth the wait!!

I guess the brushetta we had as an entree helped bear the pain of waiting.....and the midori champagne cocktail sure numbed the pain too!!!

My friend Tricia came back from the US (she's an American who lives in Oz now) and she brought me back a whole goody bag full of....goodies!!! It was just like Christmas!!!

Want to know something else? guys notice you when you are travelling in a BMW sports car.......but to be honest I wouldn't want a guy who wanted me just coz I was sitting in one of those!

You know what else? Those cars have butt warmers.....there is nothing nicer than a warm butt!!!

Today I get into my little Holden Nova Hatchback....yup nothing like a little reality to keep one grounded!!!!

Hi Ms P!

You go girlfriend!
I love veal! Any way it's cooked! My Dear One cooked me veal parmesan that knocked my socks off!
I hope those goodies included some of your fav chocolate, lol.

Mmmmm, that's sound yummy if it's well done!!

And as first dish we will have Spaghetti maTRICIAna ??? Wouldn't mind having a Bolbo at that point. Mucho mucho better than a thai chicken soup, huh?

And what shall we cook to Fido? LOL!

Hey Pen, just a little "typo"... it is VITELLO, with E. hehe...

2 HOURS? That's crazy! A busy restaurant averages 30 mins to a half hour. But..glad it was worth the wait.

So...should we mail a care package when you run out? I'm just about to bake some triple fudge brownies. MMmmmmmmmmmmm

ms_warriorthingy replies on 8/30/2008 9:34 pm:

Hi Dar... Maybe they still had to kill the calf ???

Just precisely as they tell in the Bible... I've always noticed that "little detail"...
How long do you think it took for the OT guests to eat??? Even baking wasn't always ready!

If it was worth the wait, then I would definately wait!! It sounds like it was! I have noticed that people take notice when someone is driving around in a hot little sports car. I suppose that's why some guys go out and buy a cute little red one when they go thru the "mid-life crisis"? You're right, I feel very grounded when I jump into my little purple Dodge Neon. I do like it though!!

ms_warriorthingy replies on 8/30/2008 9:37 pm:
Oh yeah I have noticed that most of the hot little sports cars are driven by men who don't even have the energy to accelerate!!! Crikey, I hope those guys didn't look at us and think we were two old biddies???? Perish the thought!!!

Yummm... I couldn't wait two hours, but hey, the bruschetta and drinks and great conversation undoubtedly make it speed by!!! I have a warm chocolate/peanut butter layer cake just fresh out of the oven - want a piece?

Nope, Don't think I could wait 2 hours for any meal. I LOVE to eat but, I am truly impatient when it comes to food. Reading and Roses can bring me some of that cake. I do NOT cook so, NOW I am REALLY hungry. I have seat warmers in my Dodge Dakota Pick Up truck. The FUNNY part is, "who uses seat warmers in Florida for goodness sake"???????? They gotta be crazy. The buttons are located on my console and every now and then I bump it accidently and when I butt starts to feel like someone lit a match to it, I realize what is going on. The first time it happened though, I could NOT figure out what was going on???I never even knew those buttons were there for months after I owned the truck. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! MUST be a BLONDE thing????

ms_warriorthingy replies on 8/30/2008 9:43 pm:
Butt warmers in Florida???? Oh boy....someone wasn't thinking straight!! Yup I would be exactly like you and flick the wrong button!! I just know it!!
The meal was so worth the wait! But we were starving when we got there coz it was already 7:30 but the entree and the cocktail did the trick thank goodness! It was soooo yummy though, and I was so full after it, I had to roll out of the little sports car!!!

Tell you what....send me a few boxes of chocolates....and you can be sure I wont eat them and I will use it to bribe them!! You know you can trust me with the chocolates!!

Veal?...Hmmm...Haven't had that in a long time...The Olive Garden makes a great Veal Parmesan...2 hours?I don't think I would have the patience to wait that long. That would more than enough time for me to drive to a different restaurant...When it comes to a butt warmer,I've never experienced that in a car...Hmmm

ms_warriorthingy replies on 8/30/2008 9:48 pm:
Lynn, you will have to do that before eternity....the butt warmer experience!!! I'm tellin ya girl....it's a winner!!!
As for the waiting bit, yeah...usually I would make some demands or walk out.....but I know their food is worth the wait!!

Well after pondering it for a moment decided the chocolate bribe thing was not likely to work...so I checked online and found you a Garlic Roasted Chicken Breasts with Sage Chardonnay Sauce Recipe; I think you could do the same thing with pork medallions; and I think a little watermelon salsa on the side would be nice with it. So here's the recipe:

2 boneless chicken breasts 2 tbsp. dried rubbed sage
2 tbsp olive oil 1 head garlic, cloves peeled, smashed
1/2 + 1/3 cup Chardonnay 1/4 cup heavy cream

Preheat oven to 400 Farenheit. Sprinkle chicken breasts with sage, salt and pepper. Coat generously, esp with the sage, but don't overdo it. Heat oil in ovenproof skilled over med-high heat. Add chicken and saute until brown, about 3 minutes per side. Arrange garlic cloves around chicken in skillet. Pour 1/2 cup of wine over the chicken. Cover with ovenproof lid and bake for 10 min. Uncover, and spoon pan juices over chicken. Put back in oven and bake uncovered until cooked through, about 8 min. longer. Using tongs, transfer chicken to plates. Add remaining 1/3 cup wine and the cream to pan juices and bring to boil over high heat until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Spoon sauce over chicken and serve.

Dessert is Susan's warm chocolate/peanut butter layer cake.
