The subject of deception has been on my mind a bit lately. A friend and I have been chatting about the various ways satan deceives, some of it so subtle, even Christians are falling for the lie, left right and centre. Resist the devil and he will flee.....how do you do that? by ignoring him? Sorry but ignoring the devil is exactly what he wants you to do. Coz if you are busy ignoring him, he is busy planning an attack.....and you don't see it coming. I have spoken of this before....and it is so important for us as Christians to grasp this. We have got to stop being so complacent and think we are too smart to outwit the devil. In the army, soldiers are taught to "know the enemy". You can't fight an enemy who you know nothing about. It doesn't mean you have to take classes on how to recognize the devil.....the Bible is full of examples of that....read the Bible..... 1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Do you see that? BE VIGILANT! You can't be vigilant while you are ignoring the devil, pretending that he isn't able to get to you just coz you don't pay him no mind. The Bible is full of people who were deceived by the devil, and it began with Eve. Did the devil stomp up to Eve,making a big noise? Nope! He slithered, as a snake, quietly whispering to her...."c'mon Eve, why would God not want you to eat of this fruit? Coz He doesn't want you to know what He knows"....and what did he tempt her with...a brussel sprout? Nope! "Eat this delicious fruit Eve, and you will know the TRUTH, the way it REALLY IS" He tempts subtly..... And what happens when he doesn't get his own way? HE ACCUSES! HE CONDEMNS! He changes from a snake to a roaring lion...in the blink of an eye! I want to ask you something..... Suppose someone was to come to you and say "let me take you on a magical discovery tour...I want to teach you about Jesus". Obviously you will get a little excited....after all you are a follower of Christ, you want to learn more and more about Him right? So the style of this teaching is full of intrigue and excitement...and you are intrigued and excited...a natural human emotion....not unlike the excitement of joining in the secret of a surprise party...you just can't wait for what is going to happen next! What would you do if I was to tell you that this teacher who wants to teach you about Jesus......does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, in the flesh? I find it hard to comprehend someone teaching about the truths of Jesus, without accepting the greatest truth about Jesus.....that He was GOD IN THE FLESH. And what if I hadn't told you this? When do you think you would have discovered the truth? I can answer that for you......AFTER THE DECEPTION HAPPENED. Please saints of God......don't be fooled, you can be deceived! If you want the Truth.....go to the Truth.....THE WORD OF GOD. If you want the Truth....have a prayerful relationship with the TRUTH.......GOD HIMSELF. God's Word tells us to test the spirits....don't accept things at face value. Even the things I say in my posts.....ALWAYS TEST IT WITH GOD'S WORD. I implore you to do this. The Bible is God's Word to us, it is God breathed, written by men who were inspired by God to write it.....it is trustworthy......so go to it ALWAYS....that is where you will find the answers. PS want to know another little secret? When you discover the truth about this wrong teaching....when you decide to walk away....just cover your ears coz I can guarantee you....the accusations and condemnation will follow! Well, without telling us who this person is, how are we to know who to watch for? Jesus was/is the Son of God isnt he? His Father is greater than him? The Father knows things that even Jesus doesnt know. Isnt that what the bible says? What I find to be a disgrace is christians war with each other constantly, then war against those they think are the enemy. Doesnt Jesus speak of a house divided? Also what T-totally amazes me, and has got me searching, is that Jesus thanked the Father for keeping things from the wise and prudent, he did this by way of his parables, yet every christian that has lived says they know the meanings of them. Doesnt that cause anyone to stop for a second and ponder? Fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; he that wins souls is wise

(((((((PEN))))))) One thing we certainly cannot do here is to lay hands on people physically, but we can continue to pray that the Holy Spirit may soften their hearts... More we cannot do. It's after all God himself that draws people to him and choose them... (see e.g. Acts 13:46-52) and they also must show themselves to be worthy, longing to repent, willing to believe and have faith... (see e.g. Acts 8:15-24) But when the blessing is clearly refused and rejected, we can only let God provide... it's useless to keep on exchanging the ""words of man"... and carry any dust from that territory. God's Will be done!

By Grace, He humbled and lowered himself to a human so you and I may have salvation if we repent and believe He is The Messiah and only way to salvation through His shed blood which provides remission of sins. And with regard to parables, when Jesus said "the wise and prudent" He was talking about his followers. So of course all Christians should understand them.

A very good post! You said it well, we see a lot of doctrine written here and elsewhere, we hear a lot of doctrine on TV and radio. We must check it out against the scriptures to see if these things are true or not. If we do not use God's Word as our standard we could very easily be misled ~ deceived. Right here on BC you will find false doctrine, beware ~ check everything according to God's Word. God bless.

Satan can assume many forms... but at the end his "nature and substance" is the same! He can't lie of himself for too long! And he still "stinks"!! RESIST HIM AND HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU! in the fed here in america that deals with finding counterfit bills they do one thing. They study and study and study and study the real bills. They never even look at fake bills. You might say why. The reason is they know when something is trying to be passed off as real because they know the real thing. Its easy to spot the unreal. Because you know what is real. Its the same way with God's voice. You know him by spending time with him and finding what is true. Then when the fake is presented you just say.... fake and move on.

AND- Jesus also warned ya several times about this same little problem of what to believe and NOT to believe... AND WHO to believe and who NOT to Believe. AND Jesus also told you what was UP between The Father and HIMSELF- but it seems folks LOVE to IGGY WARNINGS. Ain't no DEVIL got you under strong delusion. Nope. I teach Exactly what is in the 4 Gospels and nothing much else unless necessary to point back to Christ and HIM ALONE. You point to EVERYTHING BUT JESUS. Pene, Great post. Some great comments here as well. In my walk with Jesus of 30 yrs. at times, I may not have fully understood certain things like: will we be raptured etc. etc. and no doubt, I still do not fully understand all things-but I have learned that our Lord does not stand over us with a big ruler to whack us on the head if we are diligently seeking him, and he will not withhold the truth from those who love him, have relationship with him, and study the word. Hallelujah. The important thing is not to look to man but only listen to the Holy Spirit of God. Yes, there have been some on this site in the past several yrs. that are not only believing false doctrine but trying to convince others to accept this false doctrine. It is especially tricky if it is very close to the truth with just subtle twisting. Pen, thank you for your post because I know you and it was written from your heart and out of pure love. I am looking forward to what Gordy has to say. And just as you said, God's Word will prove right or wrong. I have really prayed about this and I believe in my heart that the Lord Jesus wants me to hear what Gordy has to say. And I also believe that if he is teaching something that isn't Biblical, God (His Word) will let me know. Jesus was fully God AND fully man while on earth...he humbled himself for the latter part and became, for that short time, lower than the angels. And as the 'man' part these things that you state are true of him...can you imagine how humbling and difficult it must have been for him to choose to do that for US?? "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." ( Philippians 2 : 5 - 11 ). This passage portrays a dynamic roller-coaster ride, from the glory of heaven to the depths of suffering on the cross...then back again. Hi Pen...thanks for the wise words. The Bible does tell us to be on our guard, to put on our armor. I agree with what most of the others are saying...keeping the focus on God, being aware but keeping the focus on God is what keeps us from deception and error. It is clear to most of us on here what is truth and error...it is pretty plain isn't it? Can we correct error? I think sometimes you can and sometimes folks just try and goad you into pointless controversy. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the desert He did not allow Himself to be engaged in long drawn out controvery but simply refute the lies with the truth of the Word...enough said. One of the tools of the enemy is to counterfeit the truth...but even in so doing he never comes close to the real thing does he? I agree with Dennis, when you know the real thing, the counterfeit is obvious. It seems to me that christians spend more time hunting for a 'satan' and a 'satans disguise' and fear him more then they do God. But yet, the very ones that constantly live in fear of satan are the very same ones that say God is their protector.. Something isnt right is it? It seems to me that christians spend more time hunting for a 'satan' and a 'satans disguise' and fear him more then they do God. But yet, the very ones that constantly live in fear of satan are the very same ones that say God is their protector.. Something isnt right is it?

Read Matthew 24. Deception is the sign of the end times. And that is straight from Jesus. So what precisely "isn't right" about warning others about false prophets and false doctrine? do you think this post is even an honest attempt? Or do you think maybe it might be contempt? I have been here long enough to know the same ole song and dance.. Everyone here that has aired their fears about satan and false prophets... I have an idea.. Why dont we ALL everyone of us join the thread called Perfection... Possible? Yup... IF ya wanna TRY. Deceive -- To mislead by a false appearance or statement. I think most people will admit, that during their Christian walk, they have made a similar statement -- " You know years ago, I believed a certain teaching, but now after studying it, I have come to understand that wasn't right and I have changed my mind". Therefore, the above definition would apply -- "mislead by a false statement". I myself spent some twenty years in a church, that after a period of time, we were told most of what we were taught was wrong. Once again, the definition would apply -- "mislead by a false statement". I don't believe, as we were taught, the misinformation was done on purpose. The person going the teaching was doing what they believed to be right. As you know, you can be deceived and not know it. Also, you can pass misinformation along, and not realize it is wrong information. There are many teachings, over the years, I have changed on. Some topics have been brought up here on the blogs. I have a different view on tithes, the sabbath(s), tongues, and many others. Now, was I mislead? I would have to say, yes. We may accept the definition, but we have a hard time with the word -- deceived. ... for love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Pet. 4:8 NLT

Jesus DIDN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO WITH THE ONES HE CHOSE AS THE 12. He just said- FOLLOW ME- and also said something that made them HUGELY curious. But He DIDN'T TELL THEM WHAT THEY WERE GETTING INTO UNTIL MUCH LATER. Am I RIGHT? LOOK IT UP. But WHAT DID THEY DO? Dropped EVERYTHING RIGHT THEN AND THERE- and FOLLOWED JESUS NO MATER WHAT. That is what that "perfection" thread is all about. FOLLOWING JESUS PERFECTLY NO MATER WHAT- ONE STEP AT A TIME. But hey- DON'T ANY OF YOU INVETERATE SINERS WHO CAN'T QUIT GO TRY THAAAaaaaaaT. Some people that have posted on here have not been very nice and that's too bad. Bad language is inexcuseable. Bad, bad, bad. Amen to you on this post. I agree. Who knows the bible inside and out and could quote any of us under the table?? Satan. He's very wise and knows our own weaknesses. Is Jesus God? That's the true test. Anyone who says or claims otherwise is a deciever. A lot of deception in this time of history-maybe more than there has ever been before. Some of us may pay the ultimate price someday for the true testimony of Jesus and the Lord's grace will be with us. Thought you might like to read that verse in a different light. "Your enemy (adversary, opponent in a lawsuit, specifically satan as the arch enemy) the devil constantly prowls around, (walks at large, is unconfined, as proof of his ability) like a roaring lion (the howl of a beast in fierce hunger) seeking for what is hidden, to devour him.
