I love His strong shoulders!

Psa 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I love it that He has strong shoulders...love it that He carries me....love it that He holds me in His arms when the going gets rough!

I read something recently, and I can't for the life of me remember where or what it was (blonde roots showing!!) but it impacted me a lot....

I can't remember where in the Bible it tells us that He will not give us more than we can bear, and that really is the theme for this post.

The other night, out with friends, someone was talking about a family that is going through some harrowing stuff...and they are unbelievers. One of my friends made the comment that how could anyone have faith in God when something like this happens.

But I wonder....how do people make it through the tough times without faith in God????

Anyways apparently this family is coping remarkably well, and my friend mentioned that many people are praying. It got me to thinking....they are coping because of the prayers by believers! God is sustaining these folk without them even realising it.

I know through personal experience, that no matter how tough life gets, no matter what we are faced with, He equips us to deal with it. Just when we think we can't bear another second of pain, He gives us a little something to help us carry on. And we do.....sometimes we plod...sometimes we find strength we never knew we possessed....and finally we make it through the storm. Praise God for His faithfulness and love!

PS If anyone has any other verses that go with this theme....I would really appreciate you pasting it on here...it just might help someone who is struggling!

I believe the verse you thinking of my friend is 1 Corinthians 10:13.
It's in regard to temptation but I feel it also applies here.
Keep on praying you mighty warrior!

Let your gentleness be evident to all. Philippians 4:5

Good News Bible....1Co 10:13 Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

NIV.......13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it

KJV......1Co 10:13 Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

I know some people relate this to trials Jeffy, but I have read and read this chapter and I don't know that I agree. Having said that, I do agree that temptations are trials in their own right! Thanks for the input my buddy!

Hey Pen, What a wonderful feeling to be able to rest underneath the shadow of His wings during a storm!

And a thing that is often true but hard to understand, ia how He draws unbelievers to Himself as well to the storm...

What's that saying, "No man is an atheist in a shipwreck."

Amen Hellen! Who knows, through the prayers of faithful saints, this family may come to know the Saviour!

Thanks Pen for a real 'lift'.
We all have to face the same struggles and battles
don't we. We're not of the world, but we do have to
live in it and the going can get tough sometimes can't
it.

Bless you lots,
Pat

Jeffy stole my thunder--but I believe it really only applies to temptation. Let's not put words in God's mouth. This CLEARLY gives us no excuse for giving into temptation, as God has promised that there will always be a way out, but I don't believe it speaks to trials.

I've seen Christians struggling under the weight of things that are more than they can bear. I've been one of them, and I was crushed by them. But thankfully, God CAN bear the weight. And provide healing to the wounded, crushed soul.

In my opinion, this is actually one of the worst twisted interpretations of scriptures ever, and is often used as a bat to the heads of suffering brothers or sisters, as it adds an undue burden and even guilt to those who were not able to bear some of their trials. I've been told to "remember God promised never to put more on you than you can bear, so if you're in this you can bear it. You just don't have enough faith!" Well, no I couldn't, but thanks for making me feel inadequate and unloved by God!

Off my chest, stepping down from my soap box now.

If there IS a scripture that promises that we will not know trials greater than we can bear, someone please correct me, as I would LOVE to have a promise like that!

"Jesus--He meets you where you are
Jesus--He heals your secret scars
All the love you're longing for is
Jesus--The friend of a wounded heart"

A wounded and broken heart
We need to STOP spreading lies and half truths

I agree with you all the way, my friend.

Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
I too believe that verse to be purely about resisting temptation. As for having trials, He equips us to deal with the trials, and He gives us His strength to bear it, when our strength is gone. This is what my post is about. In a way, He doesn't give us more than we can bear coz during those times He quite literally carries us. I, like you, have been flat out on the floor, and only through His grace and love have I made it.

My goodness, do I stand corrected! I didn't intend to start a fire.
I pointed out that verse because it had the phrase "beyond what you can bear". It does apply to temptation, but I can't recall any other place where that phrase is used. I certainly have felt at certain times in my life that I couldn't bear things that came my way. But hey, I'm still here. It must have been His grace(which I really may not have even understood at that time.)
Amanda said it all there above.

Let your gentleness be evident to all. Philippians 4:5

Into the naughty corner mister!!

Actually Jeffy, you are not alone coz it is used a lot by many Christians. In fact I have often used verses in the wrong context...but you know what? God speaks to each of us, personally through His Word...and He may very well have spoken to you and others using that phrase! Sometimes when I am reading His Word, He will speak to me in just such a way...just one word or one phrase...just for me!

I really didn't mean that as a smack to you Jeffy! Boy, to I get passionate about some things or what?? This particular misinterpretation (in my humble opinion) is one of my hot buttons. I've seen it way too many times, and it does NOT bring comfort to those in the midst of suffering.

Once I get this big ol' foot out of my mouth, I promise to ask forgiveness. And maybe stitch my lips shut--well, that won't help! Handcuff my hands behind my back????????

You're terrfic, and I really do love you, even when I'm being obnoxious! (sorry about that)
