Here is an update of the Smilie Support Telethon that was held late Saturday night, the 29th of April. A producer of ABC Television and Telecom called me late Saturday afternoon, saying that he was needing to fill the time spot between midnight and 12:30; was I interested in and able to put together a quick telethon. I told him to give me an hour to make phone calls and I would get backto him. My first IM went to the "main" smiley. At first, he would not respond, but then changed his mindHe wanted to know why I was trying to arrange help when I was in support of banning them all from existance. While I was explaining my position to him, I realized that I actually was not in support of Yendor's ban, per say-- but was actually taking the side of the 'underdog' and wanting to help.... Sorry , it has always been a weakness of mine... just ask my Mom....rooting for the underdog. I told Mr. Smiley that I would put up a formal public apology on BC, restating my position... that is to follow after I finish with this...seemingly ever longer... blog. To kinda make this story shorter- After alot of rangling, we were able to do a benefit for C.H.E.E.K. IN SUPPORT of the smilies. Via satelite, cable, IM and webcams we were able to have a variety of smilies show their faces... only. We pulled whinos, homeless people and anyone else-- off of the street-- who would agree to come in and sit down. First on the show was LUVY, she just stole everyone's heart... with her big heart right out there on her "sleeve". Then CRYER came out and described very eloquently... when you could understand him... through the tears.... the important role that their society plays in ours. (More of those thoughts on my apology) SUPA SMILE came out- I'm tellin' you--- you ain't heard such a funny laugh in your life. I am trying to figure out a way to get the file up for everyone to hear. I guess, email me and I will send you to a link of it----- We only had one 800 number in which to take calls-- so the pledging went very slowly. After a while, I just gave one of my email addresses and told people to email their pledges in--- that every pledge was tax-deductible-- and was going for a VERY GOOD cause. SHUSHER came on- but we couldn't get her to speak... she just kept going shhhh..... PUZZLED came on via satelite and questioned what Yendor's REAL motives were. His chin stroking was very thought provoking. SHY BLUSHER showed up.... stood there... we couldn't move her... she was camera shy.... couldn't convince her to say anything. SLEEPEY had fallen asleep in her dressing room... and we figured we wouldn't disturb her since it WAS so late at night!! (Kinda envied her a little at this point!) Then the storm hit!! ENRAGED came on... throwing around all kinds of accusations, wondering why Yendor had even brought up this whole deal... what was it to him... why he couldn't leave well enuf alone....and all the while we were trying to wrestle him to the ground and get him off stage.. LOSER came on and gave everyone the "L" sign. Well with that.. the phone line lit up---- with everyone taking back their pledge!!! We wouldn't even let him sit down-- we took a quick commercial break ... and tried to clear the stage....but not before .... getting a shot of SHOCKED standing off to the side with his mouth WIDE OPENED!.... I was able to regain my composure enough to fake calmness and brought LUVY back on. RELIEVED came on and backed us all up and reaffirmed everyone that everything was OK- and to remember that people were giving to a good cause. CRYER came back on... to tug at the heart stings while LUVY put her 'arms' around him... showing the kind of support that ALL Emoticons were known for... in their cyberland..... Afterwards, we all got on IM and had a jammin' IM FEST!! Everyone typed in and told how they felt the show had gone. Talk about some funny cartoon characters!!! Then... we were all honored when the great-great-great-great-great grandparents of ALL SMILEYS OF ALL TIMES logged on... Mr & Mrs. PacMan!! Wow! I was taken aback. I felt so honored by their attention and that they would take the precious time out of their semi-retirement to stop by and talk!!!! We were all made aware of how special and utterly important the Emoticon society is, especially in our human cyber existance. I mean.... there would be ALOT more miscommunications and hurt feelings if we, as humans, we not blessed with the presence of smileys to express our feelings more vividly without our friends!! It is the fulling of their destiny to help us out. Who am I to keep someone from doing what they do best? Who am I to say that someone is not allowed to fulfill the reason of their existance? Makes me want to cry..... While Mr & Mrs PacMan were still signed on..I passed by them the ideas of what I have come up with to make this all work out. (AND seriously.. with ALLL joking aside-- I actually lost 3 hours of sleep last night because this 'crap' kept running through my head!!)) ... now ... back to the story.... I know that Yendor and Montana have plans to approach Hanes and try to work something out with them... our people and their people... and the Emoticon people.... have to all sit down and talk.... I have come up with another idea that will totally cover the issue at hand!! I have just read Mr. Yendor's blog,, and I am appalled at the fact that after all rukus he has made-- he is willing to stop short of toally covering the exposed area... to think that it is (AND I QUOTE!) "not more offensive than having a plumber working under your sink!!!" I will be contacting 3M, the makers of Post-it notes and talking with them. More on this later.....patent pending! I spent most of Sunday tallying up and posting donations and making sure the deopsits were correct. There are still "checks in the mail"... so my job continues...... I will cotinue with more details a little later on..as I am now at work.. and need to get back to my real duties before I get fired and not able to afford food for the animls... much less... support for my Emoticon friends!! To be continued....... (P.S.-- I have personal conversations that certain smileys want to be made known-- that pertain to Meow, Skeptical, and FriendlyChat--- and of course.... YOU!! MR. YENDOR!!!! |

Firecracker.... this has been a big blow to B.U.T.T.S. and its cause.... we will have to evaluate the damage that has been done here today... I hope you don't ...end...up... with yellow on your nose... [very sad] Life is too short so Lighten Up a bit...

I would love to put a string of bellylaugh smiliies here but you-know-who will be watching. Thanks to this post I too have decided that the smilies have contributed more to online harmony than offense caused by their bare heinies.

Firecracker, I was just wondering if you've heard from the t-shirt magnate smiley. You know...their Great Uncle "Have a Nice Day!" I would like to hear what the Post It people and you are coming up with though. If it's more comfortable and decently covers the smiley's I'm all for it. Just remember, as long as we still have talking going on, there's a chance to resolve this hineyous issue!
