Just thought I would draw everybody's attention to the fact that the greatest game on earth is back today: Saturday 16th August 2008. I am of course referring to football, that's the version where players generally use their feet not their hands! It is therefore the ONLY type of football that is entitled to be called that! Some of you will know it as "soccer". The English Premiership began its 2008/09 season today, although the team I follow, Newcastle United {Mighty Magpies, Toon Army} do not play their first match until tomorrow {Sunday}. The fixture computer has given us a nice easy start - away to champions Manchester United {who are NOT really entitled to refer to themselves simply as 'United', unlike us - there were two teams called Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End who united together in 1892}! We will probably get slaughtered but hope springs eternal... Well I realise most of my fellow bloggers will not have a clue what I am talking about, but at least it makes a change from watching the Olympics  Keegan!
