Well, I am finally almost completely moved into my new place.... what a chore. (For those of you who don't realize it, everyone who lives above the 49th parallel, lives in an igloo, right Pat?? . We have to wait to do things in between the snow blizzards.)
The other night I sat down in the lazy boy chair to read the newspaper. Wouldn't you know it, my room mate came and sat close to me, but on the sofa. I continued to read the paper. Soon she began making noises sounding like, "Gary, I need some attention!"
I continued reading. More of those same noises. More reading.
Finally, determined not to be ignored, she got off the sofa, came over to me and moved the paper so she could sit on my lap. But that still didn't get her what she wanted, because I kept on reading. So she began playing with the paper and putting her face where I was attempting to read. Rawrrrrrrr!!!
"Okay, okay, you win!" I thought to myself! I began to pet "Flick", this persistent black cat. (I may not be the fastest horse on the track, but I always finish the race.)
From somewhere deep inside my spirit, I heard the Lord gently tell me that He has often been like the cat, wanting my attention, stirring my heart, making things a little difficult for me to do. He does that in order for me to focus on Him. But I continue reading, ignoring that gentle call to His presence. Finally, He has to get in my face and almost yell at me.
"Yes Lord, I hear you." So yesterday He and I got alone and just spent some quality time together. I feel so much better now, I think I will do that again today.

I_Am_1_Rib_Short replies on 11/22/2008 12:52 pm: How many ribs have you got ANYHOW???
science lesson:
Human beings have 24 ribs (12 pairs). The first seven sets of ribs, known as "true ribs", are directly attached to the sternum through the costal cartilage. The following three sets are known as "false ribs", these share a common cartilaginous connection to the sternum, while the last two (eleventh and twelfth ribs) are termed floating ribs (costae fluitantes) or vertebral ribs.
The floating ribs are attached to the vertebrae only, and not to the sternum or cartilage coming off of the sternum. Some people are missing one of the two pairs of floating ribs, while others have a third pair. (I HAVE A THIRD PAIR OF FLOATING RIBS. AND ALL THIS TIME YOU THOUGHT I WAS KIDDING. Somewhere though it said this is a mutation. Guess that means I'm a mutant? Argh!)
Rib removal is the surgical excision of ribs for therapeutic or cosmetic reasons. (Sounds like people get them removed.)
NEVER HEARD OF A RIB REDUCTION SURGERY!! here i am with all this ribbage and you're one rib short. i'm a pair of ribs long or is that tall? hmm...

Quoting BelovedByHim: LOL, I don't know you Gary, so I assumed that you were shacking up with a woman. This was a good post thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I learned in Bible college in public speaking, to use a variety of things, to keep people's interest in what you are saying. Eg. painting word pictures, getting them emotionally involved etc. GBY, Gary

Well, the fear on the puppy's face is that my daughter was coming near and she knows Juli does not like animals. ...or maybe it was the red tailed hawk in the pine tree next door. No, actually it was Juli coming close!!
Isn't it amazing how and what God uses to stir us up!
Blessings

I_Am_1_Rib_Short replies on 11/11/2008 3:31 pm: How funny.
Interesting, my youngest daughter's name is Julie, but she loves everything small (kids, cats, dogs) even me!!
Talking about God stirring us, in the background I am listening to Chris Tomlin's song, "How Great is or God", song by Hillsong......the stirring of the Spirit feels.....well....wonderful!
I realized that lately I have not been where I want to be in my walk with God, so the past several days, today especially, I am taking the time to re-center myself.
Rich blessings on your day, Gary |

Hi Gary!! Wow, you are sooooo right! I know just how cold it is up at those levels. When wintertime comes, the word 'hibernation' takes on a whole new meaning!!!
I love the analogy in your story though. I am so glad He keeps hold of us in this way. In fact, I find it quite awesome at times, that the God who made the universe actually cares about us and goes to such lengths to draw us to Him. Amazing love indeed.
Blessings Gary.
I_Am_1_Rib_Short replies on 11/11/2008 10:43 am: I remember going to a camp in Seattle when I was a kid. I grew up in Vancouver (B.C.) and even though it is only 3 hours north of Seattle, the kids could NOT believe I could actually get a tan!
Right now, instead of the cat sitting on my lap, I am listening to worship CDs and am sitting on His lap. What a great place to be!
God's blessings to you, Gary |

Did you move to Alaska? Do they accept Volvo's in Alaska? Do they accept Volvo's anyplace????
As for spending time with God.......think reading this was my nudge from Him too...better go offline in a minute and be with Him!

I_Am_1_Rib_Short replies on 11/11/2008 10:33 am: HEY!!! I'll have you know that Volvos are the only vehicle in the world that can not only survive, but thrive in any climate thrown at it!!! So, there, put that in your (tail) pipe and smoke it ..............girl!!!
......now, cut out that blinkin' smilin'!! If I've asked you once, I've asked you a hundred times
I tend to be cerebral, and I have to remind myself to spend that quality time with Him, and just let Him pour His quietness into my spirit. I never cease to be amazed at Him as I just stand in His presence and let Him hug me. What a God we serve. |

Gary,
Glad to see you back on-line. Hey, open a can of tuna and that will occupy your room mate for a minute or two. I pray everything went well in your move.

I_Am_1_Rib_Short replies on 11/10/2008 11:52 pm: Hi Shirl Thank you, I missed being here more than I thought I would.
Speaking of pets, have you noticed the look of fear on your puppy on your profile? Did he/she just spot my room-mate??
Things DID go well with my move. I found things that disappeared during my last move. But conversely I lost things during this move that I need! Grrrrrrrrr Blessings, Gary |
