I understand where you're coming from and I have some of the same concerns. I've come to the conclusion that the new fangled stuff has its place. My problem comes into play when our worship service resembles a rock concert more than it does a church service.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned???

I tend to like human voices in prayer and song, making music on non-electrically-aided instruments, myself. Or reverent silent prayer.
I don't need power points, electric guitars or amps, personally. After awhile, I'm not sure if I'm being emotionally affected by the rock noise and gimmicks or by the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. It throws me off focus on Him.
But I think a lot of it is personal preference.

I think we DEFINITELY need instruction on how to worship. It's all throughout the Bible. The disciples specifically asked how to pray (notice I did not say "what do we say verbatim"). There are instructions on how are manner should be in church, on what it means to be Biblically speaking in tongues, qualifications to be a pastor, etc.
So many churches are off the ranch when it comes to worship service. Everything from seminars about "hot christian s-x", to "mosh pits" for youth groups, to wasting time with a social gospel that is addressing global warming as a major issue for the church. Is any of this glorifying The Lord? Are any of these hot-button issues in the Bible? Many churches are falling into the "we have no king but Ceasar" mentality, looking more and more like the world each day.
And let's not start on the number of "prophets" and "prophetesses" all over America who are not being vetted and verified in a Bibilical manner. So yes, I think a guidebook with scriptures would be great.

Believe it or not, a good worship leader can bring in a lot of money. That is one of my concerns.

Nup! Worship is an expression of love that you have for your Lord. That may mean no instruments or music, just your raw voice being lifted up to heaven. There are many forms of worship. We can corporately worship in church together, or in our own quiet life with the Lord. I worship Him in song, praying in the spirit, and doing things He has called me to do unto Him. Blessings Bro
The body of Christ is like a patchwork quilt! All stitched together with God's love.

I agree Lou. The Holy Spirit resides in us. He is our teacher
