I don't know the answer to that. I personally do not celebrate Halloween anymore. I think we each must search our heart and ask God what is right for us.

What I don't understand is when a church comes out against Halloween and then has a "Harvest Festival" on Oct. 31 with a costume contest, haunted house and all the identical things you would have for Halloween. What's the point?

I understand having an alternative function for the children but just changing the name doesn't make it an alternative.

If I called Dog Poo by the name of Chocolate, it wouldn't change things. It would still smell and taste like Dog Poo.

I call it halloween because that;s what it is but our church has a harvest celebration for the kiddies--a very fun and safe night--no icky costumes though!!

I choose not to give satan even one day of my year. I don't acknowledge him being the author of any day. Each day belongs to God. (me and my little buried head and all).

No Halloween in my house either, I used to keep some tracts for kids with a bowel of Candy for any kids that did stop, but I don't do that anymore. I shut off the lights and ignore the activities outside..And Pray. I think it was Mike Warnke a long time ago I heard talk about being involved in Satanism and what things took place on Halloween..not an innocent day at all.

Sure don't mix. I remember as a child going trick or treating-it was so much fun. The actual dressing up and getting candy dosen't seem so bad-it is the witchy devilish part of the thing. Hugs.

Romans 14 verse 5 One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. 3 Each must be fully convinced in his own mind.

Nope. That is why they have separate days. October 31 for All Hallow's Eve...

and

November 1 for All Saints Day.

Salvation is of the LORD

October 31st was originally a pagan celtic festival called Samain and was the beginning of the pagan new year. They and still do celebrate it with all sorts of rituals. The custom was brought from Ireland by immigrants to America they took their customs with them and eventually as godlessness and paganistic beliefs increased so did the popularity of the time of year. The Wicca religion took up the baton and added all sorts of other stuff which orginally was not part of the pagan feast (too long to go into and best left out)Unfortunately, it became christianised by the church and it became All Souls Day ie All Hallows Day. The problem progressed with the belief of praying for the souls of the departed and of course it was left open to abuse, and became an opened door for the powers of darkness to infiltrate and totally corrupt the orginal intention of what the church practised albeit in error. Its amazing that such a obscure, pagan ritual adopted by the church as a religious festival could escalate into a massive cause for celebration. Therefore, no matter how innocent the costumes, dressing up, trick or treat and any of the other features appear, should christians recognise or be involved in Hallowen. "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, that you not participate in her sins, you who carry the vessels of the Lord. (Who is her - Babylon and the worlds system). "And do not take part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them". I do not understand how some christians can think it is harmless and take it lightly. It is now a known fact that at this time of year there is an increase in spiritual oppression, accidents etc.... the only remedy is to plead the power and the blood of Jesus on these days.
